ITINERARY

DAY 1

Your adventure begins after breakfast when your guide picks you up from the guesthouse at approximately 9:00 AM. You’ll start by walking alongside the river, then gradually climb through rubber plantations before reaching the entrance of Gunung Leuser National Park.

Inside the lush rainforest, you may encounter semi-wild Sumatran orangutans—some of which are quite comfortable around humans due to the popularity of this trek. Witnessing these incredible animals swinging through the trees and nurturing their young is a truly unforgettable experience.

After observing the orangutans, you’ll continue your trek through the dense jungle, pausing to savor fresh tropical fruits. Later, hike for another hour to reach a breathtaking viewpoint overlooking the Bohorok River Valley, with the majestic Gunung Leuser National Park stretching behind it.

Following a jungle lunch, venture deeper into the forest toward your campsite, staying alert for other wildlife like Long-Tailed Macaques, Pig-Tailed Macaques, Thomas’ Leaf Monkeys, and Monitor Lizards.

By around 4:00 PM, you’ll arrive at your campsite—either near a cascading waterfall or beside the river. Relax with a warm drink, take a refreshing dip, and unwind while your guide sets up camp and prepares a delicious dinner of curry, rice, and other local dishes. Spend the evening sharing stories or playing cards by the campfire before retiring to your jungle tent, lulled to sleep by the sounds of the wilderness.

DAY 2

Post-breakfast, embark on another 3-hour trek, keeping your eyes peeled for more wildlife. Savor lunch amidst the jungle’s symphony of sounds before hiking an additional 3 hours to your next campsite. Take time to relax, swim in the river or waterfall, and soak in the serene atmosphere.

Wake up refreshed after your night in the rainforest and enjoy a hearty homemade breakfast surrounded by nature.

As evening falls, gather around the campfire for a traditional dinner while your guide shares captivating tales of the forest. Rest well, recharging for the final leg of your adventure.

DAY 3

By the third morning, you’ll feel like a seasoned jungle explorer. Fuel up with a homemade breakfast before choosing your final activity—either relaxing at camp and visiting a waterfall or embarking on a 3 to 4-hour hike (customizable based on your preferences).

This trek offers a rare chance to spot eight different monkey species, including Sumatran orangutans, Long-Tailed and Pig-Tailed Macaques, Thomas’ and Silvered Leaf Monkeys, Siamang gibbons, and the elusive Slow Loris. You might also glimpse exotic birds like the Great Argus or Hornbill!

After a final jungle lunch, conclude your adventure with an exhilarating ride back to Bukit Lawang—floating down the Bohorok River on a traditional "forest taxi" raft. Once ashore, your guide will escort you back to the guesthouse, marking the end of an incredible rainforest journey.
